His tryout with Fuel wasn't the first time Chris Daughtry vied to be the frontman in an established band. He also auditioned for INXS on CBS's reality show Rock Star in 2005, making it only as far as the final 50. "We all loved him, and so did INXS, but it was just clear he didn't fit into the INXS box," says David Goffin, an executive producer of Rock Star. "If he were trying out this year [for new band Supernova, featuring Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke, and Jason Newstead], he'd probably make it to the finals." Fuel, for one, must be glad he didn't.

There is a big picture of Chris with an article about his secret tryout for Fuel three weeks ago. I can scan it if anyone wants to see it. the other 3 idols only had smaller paragraphs about home town visits, Kat's being the smallest.

I watched that ROCK STAR show here and there, and to honest, I just didn't care for it all. In fact, it gave me the heebie jeebies. Didn't like any of the performers or the judges, for that matter. The show had a creepy feel to it. There was a reason that Chris made it to AI. AI, for what it's worth, gave Chris GREAT exposure AND then all the press for the horrendous crime against him, that he is going to launch such a phenomenal musical career that we can hardly wait for it.
I mean, INXS, was a great band way back when when before their lost their charismatic lead singer. Unfortuntely. I don't know who won his place now, but I don't know or care, to be truthful.

I'd like to see that article. I loved RS-INXS. Marty was my favorite, too. I think INXS is a spectacular band, they are not as well known with the younger crowd, except for now with JD Fortune. The band will never be the same, and I agree Chris is not their style. I loved JOrdis Unga! I have a CD I burned with Marty's Trees, Creep, Wish you were Here, and Jordis' Man who sold the world and Imagine.
I didn't know Chris made the top 50!

I posted the scans in a new thread. It doesn't include the part I typed above because it was in a different section.

Wow! I loved Rock Star: INXS but I couldn't really see Chris as the lead singer. J.D. fits better. Chris would be better doing something different, you know, solo or with Fuel or Absent Element.

I didn't watch the entire show but I will admit Chris wasn't the right lead singer for INXS. I think J.D. was the right choice. And I am glad Marty Didn't win because he fits in so well with the Lovehammers, they rock!

I agree! Rock Star was an amazing show. The talent on that show so far surpasses the talent on AI. I think all the performers on Rock Star were far better than the band itself! I had never watched AI, but a friend made me watch for Chris, whom he said was like Rock Star performers. Although I think Chris would've kicked ass on that show, I agree that he wouldn't have been right for INXS. They're too poppy.

I AGREE !! AWESOME SHOW IS CORRECT !! AND JD FORTUNE IS GREAT !! LOVE THEIR NEW CD !! AWESOME !! Chris wouldn't have fit n that band cuz his style is so much different .....A band like Live - Staind - Shinedown - Lincoln park would suit him just fine - I think even FUEL !!
