Just read this one...maybe it is on this website and I never read it...but it really is a review about Elliott being voted off but talks about Chris in the article.
http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/publi..._27265952.shtmlLove this excerpt:
" I’ve heard rumors that
Idol plans to offer consolation recording contracts to Chris Daughtry and Paris Bennett. Chris is crazy if he takes it.
That “dawg†doesn’t need their bone. He stayed true to himself throughout the competition, which some believe resulted in his elimination, but he won’t be able to do that on a Clive Davis production. Don’t do it, Chris. They used you to rope us in, and now, they want you to be their cash cow while two performers with inferior skills vie for the title. You didn’t win, and you didn’t come in second; get out while you can. I’m glad Clive Davis isn’t interested in Elliott. I want Elliott to record music that continues to reveal himself to his fans, that self that we have all grown to love—his sensitivity, his heart on his sleeve, the whole nine. That’s what we want from Elliott, and that is what is going to make Elliott a huge star, despite American Idol and Clive Davis."
I won't claim to be the sharpest tool in the shed here, but I agree whole heartedly.
Signing w/ Clive Davis would be a huge mistake! Not sure that signing w/ Fuel would be a mistake, but not sure it is the "sure thing" either. Chris is good, but maintaining a band happy and together for any long period of time is tough.
Chris is a strong enough performer to carry a solo career. He showed over the course of the show good judgement on song selection, picking what was good for his vocal range etc...
Whatever recording contract he signs needs to be strongly worded that he has creative license alone. Nobody over his shoulder turning his music into elevator music or trying to make him into Taylor Hicks. Chris aint no lounge singer.
In many ways I don't envy Chris his choices, not that they are bad, he has the world by the tale now, just have to be a few landmines along the way too. Here's to sidestepping landmines dude.
I do know that no matter what he does I'm behind him 100% and know there are many others out there anxious to see and hear what he does.
Rock on Chris!
