Not to knock Live, because they are an amazing band but I thought that Chris totally outsang them. Chris made the other Live guy look like a little weenie.
Chris did not get as much camera or vocal time as I would have liked to see BUT they set it up so Chris could perform with his favorite band of alll time. I was so happy for him that he was able to do that. I am glad that the show is over now because Chris is that much closer to persuing his own career.
I will see the Idol concert in San Diego in August and I am really looking forward to seeing Chris perform live. I know that we are all so frustrated with AI but I have to say.............they put on a pretty good show last night.
I read in the Maimi Herold that Chris will not be accepting Fuels offer.
Can anyone confirm this???

I was so happy for my IDOL to get the opportunity to sing with his idol, as usual he did wonderfully.

I have been reading articles that he has turned down the offer then again I dont believe that really since he has contractual obligations to AI so I'm guessing he doesnt want to make any commitments.

I love Chris... but... He didn't outsang live... sorry...

honestly i dont know which idol these people were watching chris did not outsing "Live" in no way shape or form...he couldnt even get the note as good as the lead singer of Live...but in all i thought it was that duet that stole the show..i gotta give it though to meatloaf still singing with parkinson disease hats off!!!

yea i gotta agree wit the last two posts... i LOVE chris without question but he didn't outsing live. live's been around forEVER... they kno what they're doing and plus, "mystery" was live's song! live's style is really unique which why it's hard to match them. in my opinion, chris sang in his style which matched the music in his own way and live, of course, kicked ass in their usual style. neither outsang the other; they just sang in their own ways. BUT all in all, that was the most kick ass performance of the whole finale! i definitely loved it!

I agree. I could barely hear CHris over the other guy. But, he was still awesome.

As Ed says about Chris: 'his singing transcends the song" --and that's quite a compliment coming from another vocalist. Chris and Live were hotter than hot, and yes, brought the house down. I wish that Chris could have performed more of "Mystery" alone -- too much duet thing going on there, but whatever, the guy has so much soulful charisma. Cannot take your eyes off of him. It was great, Chris is great, and just cannot wait for his future musical career to take off into the stratosphere!!!

The only reason Chris didn't outsing Live is because he didn't get to sing enough alone and his microphone wasn't turned up enough. I have been a fan of Live for years but I think that the high notes Ed was hitting were painful. I thought overall it was a very disappointing performance from Live and Chris. That said, it was still the best performance of the night. Chris proved once again that he should have won, he has more talent than Taylor & Katharine put together, and he is so humble, that is a lot of the attraction.

Chris 4 Ever!!

First off LIVE is one of my favorite bands (and I am in good company, yes, since Chris Daughtry feels the same). I would not say that one outsang the other. The voices are very different. Ed uses more of a falsetto and Chris uses more of a deeper voice with some vibrato. So, not better, just different. Actually, I think the contrast of their voices sounds quite nice. I thought that performance completely rocked the finale! I am hoping to see these guys tour together in the future! One of my best friends is the cousin of the bassist and we both know LIVE's music very well. It is a good song, but we both agree that there were better song choices from LIVE that would have showcased Chris' talent more. Nevertheless, LIVE IS trying to promote their first single off the new album, after all.

Chris rocked, is mesmerizing and can even stand on stage beside Ed Kowalcyck and look and sound amazing. Coming from me (I LOVE ED!) that is saying something!

I agree with the most recent posts. Chris' resonant, manly voice is quite different than Ed's kind of thin, powerless one with that abrasive falsetto. (obviously, they're not my favorite band) Maybe Chris chose not to have the focus on him, out of respect for the band. After all, you gotta give Live and Ed credit for agreeing to do join Chris on AI, for crying out loud! Of course, they benefited from the exposure, I guess. I know one thing for sure, Chris is an incredible singer, hands down the best contestant AI ever had or ever will. He is the whole package:a spectacular singer with mesmerizing charisma!!! I think I have fallen in love. . .

yea... i agree. the high notes were painful. Chris and Ed didnt harmonize well together, but it WAS an awesome performance... dont get me wrong. i loved it. there were just a few glitches

I don't think any of the contestants were going to be allowed to outsing their duet partners. The show wouldn't do that to a star that would come on there or they would never get someone big to come on again.

I think the comment about Chris' voice transcending any song is true. He has a special unique tone and quality to his voice that is very distinctive and really touches people. In any of the songs he sang I think that stood out, even if they did not spotlight him much in the show itself. He is awesome.

i just thought it was awesome to see them perform together. And i personally thought both of their voices,though different,complemented each other very well. I noticed that their "moves" were very similar too;almost looked choreographed in some areas (unless it was???). Plus they look a lot alike...same "hairstyle" .
Too bad Live doesn't need another singer. But,really,i think Chris should get Absent Element signed and tour with Live,and then maybe Chris and Ed could still duet on a song or 2. That would be AWESOME!!! I'd go see that.

I was sad because I thought Ed's voice drowned Chris's voice out.

and about him turning down Fuel's offer.. on the red carpet show before the finale they asked him if it was true, and he said he can't really make a decision yet because of the tour and stuff. so i think people are twisting that into no hes not taking the offer. but straight from Chris himself, he said he cannot make a decision yet, so that is neither yes or no.
