I just found this on another site.

First off people were there that won a seat to be front row by shaving their head. Radio station contest. Most wearing white homecoming T-shirts.
Chris was escorted in in a LONGGGGGG stretch limo. All youcould hear at this point was "WE WANT CHRIS" chants that were LOUD!!!! I he got out of the limo and was wearing a blackshirt and jeans and looks real good. He talked, he said " this is my wife Deanna, my kids (and their names)" then he said he would be back to do a song but was going to go to the tent and talk to the school kids.
THE CROWD WAS GOING WILDDDDD!!!!!

Harley Davidson gave Chris a new bike today!

He just got the key to the city!! And they Crowned him honarary Mayor of McCleansville!

He also said when he was voted off he thought it was over for him, but it is NOT. Then he said he is not taking the job with Fuel, and will be doing his own thing. He also said he and Deanna have become good friends with Billy Bob Thorton!!
frankie

Someone on the AI board just posted this:

Hello Chris Fans,

I just came from McLeansville, NC after seeing Chris is a personal appearance. He cut a young woman's hair on stage, and sang the first song off the Absent Element CD. I'm sorry, but I don't know what the title is, but even on cheap sound equipment he was soooooooo great!

Constantine was there with him, and he had just come in the day before from watching a Pearl Jam concert in New York. His wife and the children were there, and his parents and in-laws. There were people who came from Florida, Los Angelas, TN. etc.

He answered some questions, and here is some of what I heard.

Will you stay in McLeansville?
Chris: "I don't know about staying in McLeansville, but we will stay in Guilford Co. McLeansville will always be home though."

We heard you were in New York yesterday? What were you doing in New York?
Chris: "I won't say who I was with, but I went to a Pearl Jam concert"

Who inspired you throughout your life and career?
My parents and my wife, Deanna of course. Where my career is concerned have you heard of a band called "Live"? This got a huge round of applause.

You've met a lot of celebrities, Chris, so your fans want to know who stands out the most?
Chris: That would have to be Billy Bob Thornton. He came to my motel room and we had a great time talking and jamming. He is a kind, down-to-earth man. He is also so a Southerner so we have that in common. Billy Bob also remembered that I had a picture taken with him a couple of years ago. He said "I know that man" when he saw me on American Idol." I've also met people like Tim McGraw, Rob Thomas, Paris Hilton, and Jessica Simpson.

What about your plans for the future?

Chris: "I can tell you that I am NOT signing with Fuel. Whatever happens I will be going out on my own. I will make a decision before the end of the year."

Chris also talked about how he felt when he lost the AI title. He said, "I felt like it was the end. Now, I know that it was the best thing that ever happened to me". He got a big cheer for that comment.

I don't mean to be a hater. But he really dissed his hometown. I am from here and was there today. He didn't give autographs to his own kids schoolmates only the moms in the top PTA positions from the elementary got their kids to meet him. All the elementary kids from his kids school were there and so upset!!!!!!! I was there and my husbands company donated something important for this event, I don't want to say for bad publicity's sake, but we couldn't even get an autograph. I did however get 62 pictures and if someone tells me how I'll post them.

I was really disappointed, I asked my husbands company to donate these items for this event so our six year old who was so excited the whole season, that we had a local contestant, could get an autograph. It was not him but the people running the event the staffers we pretty mean about the autograph thing. I mean if you can't sign autographs in your hometown thats bull. I am talking about the Mcleansville Shooping Center event, not the Grimsley HS event.

They raffled off tickets for 10 people to get an autograph. The lady who shaved her head signed up for that and she gets front row tickets for the Greensboro, American Idol concert. He sang two songs one from his band Absent Element and Wanted Dead or Alive. All in all they seemed very appreciative of the response of the people.

For those of you who don't know Mcleansville is an extremely small town, between Greenboro and Burlington, NC its almost like its part of Greensboro. That is why it didn't have an Mayor until today.

Well like I said tell me how and I'll post my pics.

That's too bad you didn't get the opportunity you were hoping for. But I image he's pretty overwhelmed with everyone wanting a moment with him..at least you live nearby, maybe you will get another opportunity when things settle down a little.

Chris said that he had met Paris & Jessica, but the question was who had he met, and who was the most impressionable. He started off by talking about Billy Bob Thornton and how incredible a person he is. He listed off other stars he had met, including Paris & Jessica, and with boos from the crowd, he added that they were not nearly as intriguing (not a quote), just that he had met them. He also said he had met Toby McGuire and a couple of other stars... From the way they talked, it sounded as if Deanna was with him when he met these stars as well.

I just wanted to add a clarification. I'm the woman who had her head shaved by Chris this morning, and I did not get front row seats. They were decent seats, but far from front row. The guy who was paraded in that had his head shaved on May 19th did get front row tickets. I called the 98.7 Simon radio station yesterday morning and asked how to get on the list for the shaving...They already had a person lined up, but I was the alternate. He didn't show, and I really lucked out. It was a truly awesome experience that I will carry with me a lifetime.

I'm really sorry Chris didn't get to sign more autographs. They had him on such a tight schedule. I was under the impression from the advertising all week that he was going to be set up at a table with the whole crowd parading through to get autographs, however, when I got there (at 7:30am), I was shown a packed schedule that was already planned for him. I don't think he got a choice in the matter. He was being herded from one area to another so fast, I don't think he really had a chance to even breathe. He said he will be returning home Sept. 25th, and I feel he will visit his kids' school then and really take time with all the children then.

I just wanted to add that the kids who performed for Chris were the greatest! They did a rendition of Lollipop Kids as Daughtry Fan kids and then went into an adorable rap. In the end, the boys all lined up with their cowboy hats and bowed, removing the hats to display bald head caps. It was absolutely adorable!

Also, I think they were kidding when they said Contantine was in the back. They said this just after laughing about the Chris look-alike they had come in before the parade and making a joke about a guy in the front of the crowd being Bo Bice (he had long hair and kind-of not-really resembled Bo).

no , no i understood that he just "met" them, but it was just a chance for me to show how much i dislike them, ha ha ha, Paris more than Jessica. i think its funny that the crowd booed just by the mention of their names. but to be honest i really do hope that when he's an A-lister as well they dont throw themselves at him, i guess i really just hope that he sticks to his wife, who has supported him all the way
kabba1
I bet he feels bad himself, when he's got people telling him where and what he should be doing, when really all he wants to do is meet and greet and thank everyone!

I can understand hurt feelings but people really need to not blame Chris - it's the handlers who set up the schedule. I am sure Chris will feel bad if/when he hears this story.

People need to keep perspective annd keep their expectations in check.

I was also at the High School event, I'm from Kernersville. Chris ROCKED!! I was there with 3 of my 4 kids and we were jammin. I CANT WAIT until he puts out a new CD.

He was obviously on a tight schedule. Every moment of his time was planned. A congressman, senator, governor's representative, and a miriad of other dignitaries and representatives were giving him letters and keys to the city etc.. He is totally a down to earth family dood, always worried about other folks and if the croud was liking what he was doing. Truely a humble man.

His band was awesome, they were playing their tails off and the guitarist was railing licks off like a mad man. They were jammin. IT ROCKED!!

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL HE DOES HIS OWN THING, I'M GONNA BUY ALL HIS CD'S AND GO TO HIS CONCERTS!! CHRIS ROCKS!!!

Hey I'm the one who posted about the autograph thing. I understand about his schedule. I was upset at his staffers, like I said we donated something that was actually used today and they were not nice. I do hope he does see the elementary kids the ones I talked to were heartbroken. That is the only reason we donated for our six year old.
Can I just say how brave you are that you did that in front of the crowd. When they cut your ponytail off your hair looked really cute that length and everyone around me said it to. You should grow your hair back chin length.

Have fun at the concert.

Hello there, I am an event planner here in Greensboro NC and I was one of the sponors heloing organize the days 2 public and 2 private events. Chris was on a vey tight schedule today with it being his only public appearance day so that he could spend his only time off with his family before going back to LA for tour rehearsals. Chris said repeatadly today that he wish he could stop and sign autographs for everyone but time just didnt allow it. He was actually nervous this morning at the press conference as it was his first time home since AI. Spending time around Chris today it was easy to see that he is a genuine person and extemely nice and down to earth. We had a family lunch for him today and he was so concered that his wife and kids all got cake that he came in there and got me to give him 4 slices before it was all gone. Really a super family man. These are some things that were said or happend - Chris said that yesterday he went shopping in the mall in Greensboro and got mobbed by people at the Gap. The song that Chris sang at the concert this afternoon that he wrote was called "Home" and it was awesome, a number one for sure if he released it as a single. He performed it without his band, only playing the guitar himself. Chris is shorter in person but he is also even more good looking in person. He said when he releases an album it will not be one of standards or pop influenced, it will be the type of music he has always done. He said Bucky was his first roomate and that he snored so much that Chris would hit him with the pillow and Buckey doenst recall any of it. Other than a Harley Chris was given a free Tattoo certificate which his wife was like, "Oh no I have been trying to keep him from getting one", then he asked the crowd if they would like to see him with a Tattoo and they all screamed like crazy.

If you like Chris, once you get to see him live, you will LOVE him. If you love him now, you will be head over heels after seeing him live. He is just that great of a guy and a performer.

I have about 300 pictures and I will share some if someone tells me how! He looked really good today!

Chris

I am not disgruntled or cranky. I already sent travis the pictures. I was upset for the children. They have been saying for two weeks on the news that he was signing autographs for the elementary kids, on FOX News. I luv Chris. My husbands company has something that is important for these events I asked him to donate them since this was supposed to be for children. His company did and this ended up not being for the kids. The grimsley HS was supposed to play music and this for the kids. I am not upset at him or his schedule. I actually felt bad for him. I am upset that the purpose of the event was changed after it was publicized on tv. I even said in my original post I was fowarding the pictures.

It's all good. No worries. Can't wait to see your pictures! Thanks for the update!!

I jus found this on another site.

Thank you so much Kaz for keeping us updated from the other site! I will let them know how much we appreciated it too!!

Thank you so much Chris McCune for posting all that info on here!! Thank you for helping with the event, and for joining this website! We'll look forward to more posts!!

Thank you for the compliment! I do plan to grow it back out. My dad just stopped by a little while ago, and when he saw my head, he said "Oh My God!" and walked back outside. I showed him the autograph Chris signed for him and let him know I would be taking him to the concert for his Father's Day present. He's a pretty happy dad right now (even if he is embarrassed to be seen with me!). I was out of state when tickets went on sale and have been trying to bid on ebay for some, but they have been going for outrageous prices. This was my only option to get to the show. My hair will grow back, but the Idols will only be in concert one time. Plus, I'm donating my hair to Locks of Love (an organization that makes wigs for children going through chemotherapy), and I'm going to send them a pic of Chris cutting my hair to give to the child who receives the wig.

I love kids and completely understand your additude about the signing of autographs. Like I said in my previous note, I, too, was under the impression that this was to be an event solely for Chris to sign autographs and meet fans from the news media hype all week. Had I not had my head shaved, I wouldn't have gotten to meet him at all. The schedule only allowed him 15 minutes in the tent with the children, which was extremely unrealistic and completely out of his control.

For all those wondering about Chris' height, I guessimate him to be 5'8"-5'9". I have to agree that he looks better in person than on TV. I found him to be a very natural, genuine person and truly looked at home on that stage this morning. I could tell he loves McLeansville and all the people there. Like he said, he will always call McLeansville home no matter where he lives. Home is truly where the heart is.

On our Fox news they were showing a report on Chris websites and the first they showed was mrdaughtry.com. They even showed the content of the site! Cool!

I have sent my pictures to be posted so hopefully it will be on here soon. I got a picture with Chris and so did my assistant and I included those. Chris did a lot today for the Kids. There was a special tent set up for all the kids and he came to them first and spoke about following their dreams. Everywhere we went today Chris took the time to acknowledge the kids by speaking to them or shaking their hands, signing autographs whatever he could do!

In Charlotte.com/news
McLEANSVILLE - "American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry returned to his hometown fans Saturday, vowing to remain in the Greensboro area and spilling secrets about fellow N.C. hopeful Bucky Covington.

Addressing about 1,200 fans -- one had come all the way from Nevada to see him -- at a homecoming at the McLeansville Shopping Center, Daughtry was asked by a fan whether he planned to stay in the rural community just east of Greensboro where he lives in a house with his wife and two stepchildren.

"I'm going to stay in Guilford County," Daughtry replied. "McLeansville -- I'm not too sure about."

Daughtry had worked as a service adviser at Crown Honda in Greensboro and sang in the band Absent Element before getting aboard "American Idol." He was next to the last to get eliminated this season.

At the time, he expressed shock about being voted off the show, but Saturday his views had mellowed. "It was my time to go," said Daughtry, 26. "It was the best thing that could have happened."

By not finishing in first place, Daughtry is free to pursue his own career after the "American Idol" concert tour ends this summer rather than take a contract with a subsidiary of the show's producers.

Thought `Idol' too `cheesy'

Daughtry, who began singing at age 16 and who grew frustrated as an adult that his career was not taking off with Absent Element, said he tried out for "American Idol" to gain more exposure. He said he used to consider the show "cheesy," but after seeing the acceptance it earned fellow rocker Bo Bice, runner-up in Season Four, he changed his mind.In the week he's been back from Los Angeles, he said he's been "mobbed" at the Gap and recognized everywhere.

In McLeansville, Daughtry accepted gifts from a line of well-wishers -- including Guilford Sheriff B.J. Barnes, who handed him a card. "I'm a little concerned you're hanging out with Paris Hilton," Barnes said. "Here's a `Get-out-of-jail card."

Life with Covington

Daughtry sang Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" and a song he'd written for Absent Element called "Keep Me Close." He also sang for fans in a second appearance Saturday at Jamieson Stadium in Greensboro.

In a chat with reporters, Daughtry said the contestants had roommates and fellow Tar Heel Bucky Covington stayed with him for a while after Ace Young was eliminated.

"He snored a lot," Daughtry said of his friend Covington. "I'd beat him with pillows. He didn't even remember it. He'd wake up the next morning and see the pillows and say, `Oh man, I did it again?'"

Sounds like the homecoming was a lot of fun. I am surprised that he and Billy Bob hit it off so well, he always kind of grosed me out before but I guess he cant be that bad if Chris likes him. smile.gif

SOUNDS INTERESTING NONE THE LESS!!!! I would have loved to be there!!! biggrin.gif
