i have been doing some research on Owen Sloane. Remember when Chris was on Ellen and said he wanted the name of a good attorney. It has been taken out of her reruns but it was said. So all of a sudden he has Rob Thomas , Ellen and whoever telling him about attoirneys and then he is represented by Owen Sloane. This man is the best there is winning LA attorney of the year, representing a rolls royce of entertainment talent. To numerous to list He must be hugely expensive and would only take on Chris as a client if he did not believe in his marketability and that he would be getting a big return on his time and investment in Chris. The gist of this topic is that Chris is on the move and there must be contract things ect that we will never be privy to but I would imagine that the e19 rules ect probably do not apply to Chris anymore. They know they have dynamite with Chris and I am sure concessions have been made and you will see the hypeing of Chris very soon. Why else does Chris not always look like the cat that ate the canary lately and also seems to distance himself from certain Idol interviews ect. CHRIS IS ON THE MOVE. WAHT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS. I ALSO THINK THAT HE PROBABLY ALREADY HAS AN ALBUM READY TO ROLL' .

i've said this to everyone, since day 1, that no matter what, chris daughtry, will be, if not already is, bigger than american idol could ever make him. he has the type of charisma that if he has a goal, he'll accomplish it and will not stop shooting at that goal til he has reached his ultimate peak point. he's not the type of contestant that tries out for the show JUST because he has a good voice, he's truly passionate about his music (what am i telling all of you this for? you already know. haha).

And I still remember all the different people furiated over Chris's departure... I mean the list is incredible...If you look back at all the different theme weeks, each of the guests praise Chris, from Queen, to Barry Manilow, to Stevie Wonder. And now to see people like Rob Thomas STILL glorifying him.. I mean think about it... all the other past contestants that were not winners, have gone no where. They are back to local bar scenes. Chris was 4th place, and probably the only 4th place winner anyone will ever remember.

I don't know...I tend to ramble so much on American Idol...

I tend to agree with both of you, but having no news about Chris is frustrating. Sept. is a long time to wait to find out who he signed with. Early on, when I read about the Owen Sloane-Rob Thomas connection, I thought that he may have signed up for Rob's new label. I still think that's a possibility, because it would probably fall under the RCA umbrella. Otherwise, I think those AI contracts are tough to break unless you have mucho bucks.

I agree with all you guys!

I have read posts from people on other boards saying that Chris will just fade away like other past Idol losers. They used Tamyra and Constantine as examples as Idol favorites who never found success. I beg to differ. Chris holds something that both Tamyra & Constantine lacked.

Chris vs. Tamyra - Chris has the ability to compete in todays music industry. He has a mainstream radio sound and an a marketable image. Tamyra, although one of Idols most beautiful and talented contestants, was not made for todays music. She is a pre-mature Whitney Houston and although Whitney was big once, that type of music is dead. Now a days, a beatiful voice doesn't mean anything. It's a plus, but in todays music industry, sex sells(see Beyonce & Christina Aguilera). Chris wins that battle of being mainstream.

Chris vs. Constantine - Constantine, while breaking down barriers that had been built on Idol, never really marketed his image. He was the self-proclaimed "rocker"...but he tried to show too much versatility. What rocker sings "I Think I Love You" on a night where he could have picked a huge rock classic? Chris "refused to comprimise" his image and stayed true to himself. Because Chris stayed true to himself, it helped people keep their respect for him. Especially people in the music industry. Chris knew who he was and there was no way around that...Constantine didn't. Chris wins this battle of knowing who he is and what he is about.

I think what people need to realize is that Chris was the favored contestant this season because he is exactly what todays music industry is all about. Like Carrie is to Country, Chris is to Rock. You will see much more of Chris because he is making all the right decisions.

Although September is a long ways away...it doesn't mean Chris will become forgotten. He has some of the biggest names in the industry behind him. If his first album is amazing, which I'm sure it will be, Chris will be on his way to stardom.

I posted on another board and I will post it here. Chris is a music legend in the making. I honestly see him as the modern day Johnny Cash.

Bretizzle, I remember that post and the one you wrote before it on the AI board. It got a couple of us all teary eyed!

I agree with you once again. We cannot and should not compare Chris to any non-winner of previous seasons. He is current, knows exactly who he is and has the talent and has the industry support to carry him far. No other artist has ever made me feel the way that Chris has. This man has superstar written all over him. It is only a matter of time.

i know... i feel the same way, getting all frustrated that im not hearing anything from Chris but id like to believe that this is what he's been advised. i have a feeling that after the tour, Chris would have a very big and very pleasant "surprise" announcement to all of us fans. either way even if Chris doesn't change labels, i think the AI people would really try to hold on to him. he's too precious to let go. Chris=Money for them. wink.gif

Cool this is great for chris

I believe amazing things are yet to come and after the AI tour I'm sure his PR people will be on the ball promoting him and we will see/hear him everywhere. Unlike most past contestants his name will be a household word. I believe he is in a great position to knock Kelly Clarkson back a few notches as the most successful idol to date after his first CD is released. Simon touted on season 4 that Carrie Underwood would outsell all former idols combined, but I think that was before he ever could've imagined someone like Chris Daughtry stepping on that stage.

To reply to the statement that Chris probably has a CD ready to come out right now, I doubt it. But I do think he has a lot of songs he's written to put on his new CD. He has to find musicians that he can work with and are on the same page as he is before he could record. And of course the legal ranglings with e19, etc. that will need to be dealt with before releasing the CD.

I have felt this way too for some time. Chris has elldued to it on several occasions for instance when Ryan said you will have to wait until Taylor and Kat drop their CD's before you release yours, Chris said i will release it when it is ready. he went away last week to do a solo gig for Abercrombie and Finch??? I mean I am sure that is not allowed in the 19e contract as it took away from tour practice and the Taylor cd release thunder. Yet it happend.

Chris is definately on the move. I was half expecting an announcement that he would not do the tour. Butv as I bought tickets only to see Chris, I am thankful not such announcement has been made yet.

I agree!! I don't think Chris is going to fade out . There's no way. Way too much talent and support. Would be great if he could take his band with him. I don't see why not. They are awesome. Have you gotten the AE cd? If not , you should. If they can do that at this level I can only imagine what they could do with backing of RCA or someone. While September is a long to wait it would be foolish of Chris to try and ditch the idol thing so quick. You have to remember that's why we all know about him. So no matter how much it sucks it's definitely going to be worth the wait. If nothing happens( God forbid!!) I for one will just start heading for NC bars or whatever. I can't see him not doing something with the music.
chris'miss
totally agree......where did you read and fing out that he now rerpesenting chris?

I agree with your assessment of Mr. Sloane and I too feel like that he must know that Chris is star material (if not already a star). I read a couple of months ago that all of the 24 semifinalists must wait until 90 days after the finale before they can cut their ties with Idol. And I think that includes not divulging their plans until that time. So I think it will be the end of August before we will be hearing any of Chris' plans. And very wonderful plans they will be in my opinion. Don't you agree?

I am also sure that Chris is headed for great things. I can't forget how Simon looked at him, folded his arms, and said "I don't see any charisma here." He was bound to be out of his tree (could have been sipping from Paula's cup) because Chris is loaded with charisma. I think he will be highly succesful, mainly because of that charisma and his talent for making friends with everyone he meets. He has a wonderful singing voice but without his other qualities that might not have been enough.

As to an album any time soon; I read a couple of months ago that none of the finalists with the exception of the runner-up could put out an album until 3 months after the winner (Taylor) releases his. Let's just hope that Taylor gets with it and starts recording. Pronto! mad.gif
