Below is my review of the LA concert from Sat.---I wasn't sure I should post or if anyone would want to read it, but I decided to post it anyway...I posted this on another Chris site on Sun. when I got back from LA...
Ok, I'm not going to pretend I'm a writer or anything, this is going to be off the cuff completely. I just walked in the door about 5 mins. ago from the airport & all I have to say is that I'm still speechless from the concert. But, first, let me tell you about before the show. My friend & I were about 5 mins. away from the Staples center at the hotel, & as we were out trying to find a place to eat lunch, we decided to take a detour to check out the Staples Center (this was at around 12/12:15). We walked over, took a few pictures & then continue to walk around the building (it's very cool looking if you've never been). Anyway, I spot an American idols little SUV & a trailer on it---we go over & take some pics in front of that---the guy driving said not to worry & take pics---he said the idols would be there soon. We got all excited just to see the SUV---so, we keep walking. Next, we spot two large grey buses & almost died! We were so excited ---we also saw some people by this fenced area with red shirts & thought they might be Ace fans---they were standing across the parking lot from where the buses were at. We walked over & asked if they were there for the idols---they said yes & for Ace---some had 'High Rollers' shirts on. Well, we got all excited; they said that they had been told that the idols would be arriving at 2---it was now 12:30. Well, at that point, neither of us was hungry so we decided to stay & wait to see what happened. A few other people gathered around & joined the little group, by almost 2, there were about 20 people, maybe a few more, all for Elliott, Chris, Taylor or Ace.
At around 1:55/2, we see two more grey buses driving down the road toward us & we all start freaking out with cameras out & everything. The first one pulls up to the light (at the parking lot entrance, right where we were) & people are holding up signs & screaming & waving (me included)---and a window opens & it's ELLIOTT---Such a doll! He's ina white tank top & just sticks his hand & face out the window, smiles & waves at everyone. Then Bucky is next to him---they were both kind enough to open the windows & wave. Well, as their bus is turning in, the driver literally crashes into the fence pole that's right at the gate---rips into the bus ---and Elliott & Bucky's faces just dropped---it was very amusing to see the bus have an accident in front of us---they finally pulled in & then the second bus pulled in behind them---no windows open or anything---there was a third still in the street. While the guys were inspecting the accident bus, a car pulled in with shaded windows & out comes LIsa & Paris & from the other side, ACE....OMG is he beautiful ( a different beautiful than our Chris)---I yelled, 'ACE!" b/c his car was at a weird position & his fans were blocked---everyone goes crazy! He gives us one finger up, like 'I'll be right there'---and he goes & gives his bag to one of the bus guys. And then,....he walks up to all of us & shakes hands & signs autographs---I took the photos b/c my friend was having a heart attack that he was right in front of us---Lisa & Paris came up & signed our papers, too, but they didn't have much to say & were gone quickly.
Ok, ladies, if you've never met Ace, it's an experience all in itself. I have never seen someone quite as beautiful as him---like I said before, Chris is a different beautiful to me---my friend talked to him for a couple of minutes & I took their picture together & then I was next & had nothing for him to sign (my friend had him sign both our tickets)---and I didn't know what to do...so, (you're going to laugh at this one b/c I"m still laughing)---I say 'Hi Ace, I'm a HUGE Chris fan --and I like you, too---and I threw my arms around him & gave him a big hug (my friend didn't do that---I couldn't believe I did it)---he said to me after my Chris fan comment that 'I'm a huge Chris fan, too'---and I started laughing! We then handed our camera to another person there to take our picture with Ace together---and he was on to someone else. He's such a sweet, kind man, he really is. He looks you right in the eye when he's talking to you, like you're the only one there--amazing. I snapped about 50 pics of him as he went down the line to say hello to others...
There was a media thing the security guard said at 2:45, so he took off & said he'd be back---we waited until 3 and then left to go find something to eat---it was really warm, standing there in my black top & jeans---and we didn't have any water or anything---decided it was best to go eat & come back.
We left to eat & found this little restaurant about 5-7 mins. walking distance away---we sat down, ordered, stared at the pics with Ace & discussed how amazing it was that we actually met him...and then this woman who had been with us over at the parking lot was in there & she got a call from her daughters (who were still there)---& they said that a bunch of people were coming out again...well, we looked at each other, asked for boxes for our food (which had just arrived) &the check & ran (and I mean, I seriously ran) back over to the Staples center. We got there & it was Ace again (which was good b/c my friend got to see him again in person). Anyway, some people from mrdaughtry.com were there as well as some daughtrygang ladies---very nice people, all out for Chris...they said that Ace had told one of them that Chris was recording & wasn't there yet (I was sad, but also happy to know that he is actually recording & working on his cd)---I stayed at the fence until 6 (keep in mind that I had gotten there at 12:30, left for about 20 mins. at 3 & stayed until 6) with hopes to see Chris drive in---didn't happen. I figured that he probably didn't have to show up early b/c he doesn't go on the show until later, so he doesn't have to show up before it...
Anyway, I saw Kat---she's VERY skinny by the way---she just waved out a window & that's it---saw Ryan, Ace's brother, Kat's boyfriend showed up---oh, I saw Mandisa get off the bus earlier, too, but she didn't come up to the fence.
Anyway, we got in at 6 when the doors opened & we were a little nervous about our seats...we found them and OMG! They were the 10th row from the floor (literally off the floor!)---on the left side of the stage (if you're looking at it)---and we were the first row that extends out as the seats go up, so we were in the first row off the corner of the stage---it was absolutely amazing! I felt like a kid at Christmas! We were so excited---I think I screamed with delight!
The concert was amazing---my highlight was after intermission w/Chris---when Kellie pickler was up, I knew she was last before intermission so we went to the bathroom---she wasn't too wonderful anyway...we stood for all the guys sets--Ace was cool---he's trying to be like Chris, though, b/c he was carrying around the mic stand during his maroon 5 song & it just looked kind of funny---he did a great job, though. He did take off his jacket & a Lakers sleeveless top & he threw the Lakers jersey & his beanie into the crowd before he left the stage at the end of his set.
Ok, so when the videos came back up after intermission, I was on my feet...my heart was pounding a mile a minute---there were girls behind me who had gone to the San Diego show the night before & showed me pictures & they told me that I was not going to believe his performance---ladies, it was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!!!!! When the lights dimmed & he came out with WLL---OMG---my friend took a picture of my face when he came on & it's the biggest smile I"ve ever seen on me! He wore the black button down shirt & I just screamed & sang every word with him---we got some amazing pics of his set, too. He's awesome, that's all there is to it...took my breath away---the way he sings with that mic, the way he performs, there are just no words to describe---I was screaming & singing, singing & screaming, waving at him, just out of my mind!!! Truly an amazing set---left me wanting more---was so sad when it was over & he had to leave for Elliott to perform (E did a great job, though)---but WDOA was awesome---when he puts the mic out for everyone to sing with him---OMG!!!! And Renegade was an experience---the whole set was an out of body experience---it was the best money I've ever spent---the best concert I've ever been to! TRULY amazing!!!
I gotta go talk to my husband since I haven't seen him since I left, but I'll post more & maybe some pics when I get them from a friend...Chris is awesome; I didn't get to meet him, but I did get to see him perform---and that is an experience like no other. Absolutely awesome...speechless, at a loss for words, I'm telling you. I'll be back later...sorry this goes on & on, but I didn't want to leave anything out!
